
Thomas W. Hoban is a Commonwealth Financial Network Investment Adviser Representative, and a FINRA registered securities representative. Tom graduated from California State University, Fullerton, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, and a Masters of Science in Computer Science. Tom worked as a Software Engineer at Hughes Aircraft, in Fullerton, CA., from 1978 until 1988, when he received his general securities registration. He then went to work with Diversified Securities Inc., Long Beach, CA., and in January 1993 changed Broker/Dealers to Royal Alliance. In February, 2009, he affiliated with Commonwealth Financial Network (CFN). He also holds a Life and Disability license as well.
Tom specializes in Financial Advising through the selection of Professional Money Managers, Mutual Funds, ETF’s, Variable and Fixed Annuities, and Life and Disability Insurance. His business is diversified amongst Small Business and Group Retirement and Benefit plans, IRA Rollovers, and working with individuals on Retirement/Investment, Estate and College planning, all with tax reduction as a primary goal. Tom stands out as a very technical Advisor combining his engineering background with financial planning. He is at his best when many areas of financial planning are combined, usually beginning with a Small Business Retirement Plan for the owners, planning for their children’s’ college education, and their ultimate retirement.
Tom lives in Yorba Linda with his wife Cheryl. Tom has two children, Dane and Danya, both graduates in 2014 (Dane in Finance) and 2017 (Danya in Mechanical Engineering) from Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas. Both children are working full time in their fields; Dane is part of Tom’s practice at DIS, and Danya in biomedical engineering, here in Southern California. Outside of his time at Diversified Investment Services, Tom, along with Cheryl, and often the kids, are world travelers that have visited 70+ countries and all seven continents - finishing with the crown jewel and most amazing – Antarctica in 2016. Tom is a member of the stewardship and endowment committees at his church, supports and participates in several local charity events, and is an avid racquetball player.
